I used this recipe and it turned out great! So good on vegetarian meatballs and burgers. I had a lot left over that I put in some jars in the fridge.<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients<\/p>\n<p>3 tablespoons olive oil<br \/>\n1 cup onion finely diced<br \/>\n1\/3 cup carrot shredded<br \/>\n3 garlic cloves minced<br \/>\n1\/4 cup fresh basil chopped<br \/>\n1\/2 teaspoon dried oregano<br \/>\nsalt and pepper<br \/>\n28 oz whole tomatoes canned<br \/>\n28 oz crushed tomatoes canned<br \/>\n2 tablespoons tomato paste<br \/>\n1-2 teaspoons sugar (optional)<br \/>\n1\/2 cup water<\/p>\n<p>Directions<\/p>\n<p>In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion, carrot and garlic. Cook until soft, about 5 minutes.<br \/>\nAdd whole tomatoes (with juice) and gently break apart with the spoon.\u00a0 Stir in remaining ingredients.<br \/>\nSimmer uncovered on low heat for 20 minutes or until sauce reaches desired consistency.<br \/>\nServe over spaghetti or enjoy in your favorite recipes.\u00a0Freeze or refrigerate to store.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I wanted to try making this from scratch.
